March 26, 2011 | Saturday | 2:00p.m. | Ward CO | 9,000+ft. elev.
It may seem like an odd place, a little creepy, questionable? -yes. But there’s no question about it, Ward, Colorado is where it’s at for one of the cycling meccas in Colorado. No resorts. No fancy restaurants. No anything really. There’s a “General Store,” but I don’t even know if it still in business, just a ton of miscellaneous stuff out front. I hesitate saying “junk,” because I don’t think the people of the GREAT metopolis of Ward see things as “junk.” “That ol’ tire – that’s a swing for the chitlins. Hell, what you say we throw ‘em in there and push ‘em down the hill?” If you did push them chitlins down the hill, they’d be in for one heck of a ride down Lefthand Canyon all the way into North Boulder. You may not ever see them again. Maybe some parents wouldn’t mind that. “Hey kids, lets go ‘camping’ up near Ward.” I could go on about how backcountry Ward is, but truth is you need to check it out for yourself. It’s AWESOME.

It’s the Sabbath and I should have been resting, but I just couldn’t tell my KSWISS K Ruuz no. Track workout? Ok! GOAL: 4mi @ < 5:08/mi pace. I came though the first mile in 5:09. Perfect! “I can negative split that no problem.” Feeling superman strong, light on my feet, and smooth. I REMEMBER, NOW! Salvation! I haven’t felt this good running in years. -Really, years. Only thing is… at the 2mile mark I felt a twinge in my right hamstring. I shut it down immediately. These K Ruuz are too fast for my own good. No worries. I’ll be back on the track within the week. Minor setback.
Stay hydrated, stretch, and be advised; if you put a pair of these on your feet, you can’t help but run FAST. You’ve been warned.
